The crinkle of death is common after the 6 month mark with Maxwells. Great sound but when the silver film inside the earcup gets wrinkled, you'll hear it constantly even with them off. I've sent an email to Audeze support. Ill update with the result of anyone is interested. 300 for 6mo failure isn't what I would recommend no matter how heavenly they sound.

it is easy to understand that more drivers performs better than less drivers but i think the key question is only interesting if you have a fixed budget : do few high quality drivers perform better than more driver of lower quality, to match the same total price in both cases

I liked your gear. However, I am wondering if you moved it around and treated your room some, it might even improve. Rooms, in my opinion, are a huge factor in making or breaking your experience. I don't mean with DSP, but with the proper tools.

The main difference is that the Angel is equipped with a Sabre "M" chip - which means "mobile" - these mobile chips are significantly worse than regular Sabre chips. Sounds thinner, brighter, there is no real weight of vocals and instruments in mobile Sabre chips. The Diablo, on the other hand, is equipped with a regular desktop DAC chip. Another VERY important thing - you said "high power option with turbo setting" on the Diablo - it is not strictly speaking high power mode (the unit still has the same output power, the only way to double the output power is to switch from battery mode to wall charger mode.) but really high GAIN - totally different thing.

On Tidal now for the quality, but the search is driving me insane... Anything that isn't mainstream and current gets buried deep down in the results, in illogical ways, even with precise search terms. Spotify always helped me find things quickly and easily, but the quality just isn't acceptable and until I they release HiFi I don't want to support them with any more money.

Its because the signal isnt meant to travel that far. It very likely will not sound the best if you have to route it very far at all

On the strength of your review iIpurchased this Element S , playing via I2S into Topping dx9 pro and it has astounded me with the clean quality of the sound. I still do not understand how it plays flac files from an external ssd plugged into thr usb input ..but it does.

Hi Drew, Can't wait to see the upcoming improvements to your new Listening Room. I bought a lot of your Dragon Cables over the past couple of years and always inquired about an I2S HDMI cable. I have a huge stack of PS Audio Gear already using your interconnects. Would love to add a Silver Dragon I2S cables to my MKII DAC and CD Transport. This video was uploaded 10 days after I got my first pair of CIEM lol. Honestly now I can't go back to universal in ears anymore. My ears would hurt after wearing them for a long time. And I can't even wear Airpods any longer than 30 minutes.

Budget and form factor/ergonomics are the 2 major points forgotten into this video. Peoples going at the gym or outdoor jogging don't want to carry the tanks that are high end DAP, specially the ones mentioned here. You could have them broken or stolen if not careful in such situations. Hi resolution output is a big deal for music lovers like myself but there is situations where those DAP aren't suited as you had to carry both the phones and the DAPs on the go. That's where the forgotten cowons like the J3 and D2 came to the rescue , they had sweetspot specs and form factor for everyday carry and they were still expensive relatively speaking, specially if you spend on good iem/headphones. Aspects of the user experience are too often overlooked when you look at Hi End gear (I'm not talking about wireless bc that bring a lot of issues too).
